HONOLULU — When Delilah Williams completes the remainder of a 20-year prison sentence for her role in the Hawaii murder of her stepdaughter, she’ll be about 40 years old.
Her daughter Azrah, who was an infant when 5-year-old Talia was killed in 2005, will be 20 and no longer a dependent minor.
Federal public defender Alexander Silvert says Azrah’s future age helped determine the terms of Williams’ plea deal.
Jurors say the deal influenced their deliberations as they considered a sentence for her former soldier husband, who avoided the death penalty. Her deal required testifying against him at a trial where he was convicted of murder.
The 30-year-old Williams is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Honolulu.
Some jurors are planning to attend the sentencing.
