The governor’s office has released more than $1.25 million in capital improvement grant funds to the Girl Scouts of Hawaii for improvement projects at camp facilities on three islands.

Identified by the state Legislature, the funds will finance improvements to wastewater systems at Camp Paumalu on Oahu, Camp Piiholo on Maui and Camp Kilohana on Hawaii Island.

“By maintaining basic facility necessities, we are ensuring that this historically rich and value-based organization can continue to be an active and beneficial contributor to young women in our communities,” Gov. Neil Abercrombie said.
