Three Hawaii Island Red Cross shelter are remaining open until further notice.

Hawaii County Civil Defense requested the shelters at Kealakehe High School, Keaau High School and Ka‘u High School continue to be open.

The remaining eight shelters were to close today.

The Red Cross advised that residents continue to listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio for updates on the situation and to stay alert for extended rainfall and subsequent flooding.
