Barbara “Barb” “Nani” Amalia Davis, 86, of Haiku, Maui, and formerly Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 6, 2014, of cancer. Born Oct. 25, 1927, in Portland, Ore., she was a bookkeeper for P.A. Harris Electric, a singer in a jazz band, a fashion advertising model and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her son Patrick (Willow) Green of Haiku, Maui; adopted daughter Jeannie (John) McKinley of Oceanise, Calif.; brother Arthur (Grace) McDermont, of Hot Springs, Ark,; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one nephew and one niece.

Robby Alcoran

Robby Mateo Makanalani Alcoran, 14, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 5, 2014, at his residence. Born Feb. 8, 2000, in Honolulu, he was a student at Kealakehe Middle School and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kaloko Congregation.

Private services were held.

He is survived by father, Robert Alcoran of Kailua-Kona; mother, Charlotte Nowlin of Lebanon, Ore.; brothers, Joel Dalme, Tyson (Michelle) Alcoran all of Kailua-Kona, Matthew (Moani) Stapp of Kekaha, Kauai; sisters, Starr (Gregg) Yamada of Keaau, Shyla Farm-Alcoran of Kailu- Kona; grandmother, Katherine Alcoran of Keaau; grandfather, John (Linda) Nowlin of Yreka, California; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Vernal Veincent

Vernal “Big Man” John Veincent, 71, of Hilo died Aug. 9, 2014, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born June 8, 1943, in Hilo, he was a heavy equipment operator for Goodfellow Brothers, a member of the Apostles Motorcycle Club and Operating Engineers Union Local 3, and former member of the Aliis Motorcycle Club.

A Celebration of Life will take place 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at Puhi Bay (Hawaiian Village). The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by spouse, Marilyn Veincent of Hilo; five daughters, Lucille (Terence) Veincent-Salazar of Pahoa, Renee (Wendel Kaiawe) Veincent of Kailua-Kona, Kehau (Pius Taiwerpiy) Veincent of Kahalui, Maui, Shannon (Carlos Claudio) Veincent and Sheron (Nathan) Bee of Hilo; son, Shane Veincent of Hilo; two brothers, Manuel (Eunice) Veincent of Waimea and Joseph (Lorraine) Veincent of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Yonife Elisaga

Yonife Villareal Elisaga, 61, of Pahoa died Aug. 9, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 20, 1952, in Pagadian City, Philippine Islands, she was a billing clerk at Hilo Medical Center a member of Hilo Door of Faith Church and Hilo Visayan Club.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Norma “George” Evian Godfrey, 93, of Hilo died Aug. 8, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ionia, Mich., she was a retired chiropractor.

Helen Thompson

Helen Gillette Thompson, 93, of Hilo died Aug. 8, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center.

Born in Wakeeney, Kan., she was a journalist.

Vivian Spencer

Vivian Nalani Spencer, 93, of Honolulu died July 30, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pauoa, Oahu, she was head usherette at Waikiki Theater and played on the women’s softball team, and was senior clerk of the front desk at Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 21 at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Lunch will follow. Burial will be held at 12:45 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Family requests aloha attire. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by sons, John (Judy) Spencer, Kenui (Sandi Sugihara) Spencer and Kaipo Spencer; daughters, Kehaulani Spencer and Nalani (William) Viveiros; brother, Frank Kahoohanohano; sister, Donna Soares; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Juana Roy

Juana Pancho Roy, 75, of Hilo died Aug. 3, 2014, at her home. Born May 16, 1939, in Kona, she was retired from West Hawaii Today.

She is survived by brothers, Eugene Pancho, Paul (Carol Kanayama) Pancho both of Honolulu; sister, Roberta (Sam) Pemberton of Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry Grace

Henry “Mugs” “Pops” Grace Sr., 91, Kealia died Aug. 5, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Olelomoana, South Kona, he retired as a heavy equipment operator for C. Brewer. He was a sugar cane truck driver for the former Ka’u Agriculture Business; and a member of the Ka’u Hawaiian Civic Club.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 23 at Pukaana Congregational Church in Kealia for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be in the Kalahiki Cemetery in Kealia. The family requests casual attire worn and flowers are welcome.

Satoe Higuch

Satoe “Patsy” Higuchi, 94, of Hilo died Aug. 5, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Jan. 11, 1920, in Onomea, she was retired from Paramount Grill and Woolworth’s Restaurant and was a member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission and Pomaikai Senior Center.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by sons, Clyde (Susan) Higuchi, Eric (Johnnette) Higuchi, both of Hilo; daughter, Hilda (Howard) Sakai of Kurtistown; sisters, Teruyo (Hideto) Yanagisawa of Hilo, Dorothy (Tom) Yanagisawa of Papaikou; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

George Pule

George Solomon Pule, 74, of Kapaau died Aug. 10, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born Aug. 24, 1939, in Kohala, he was a landscaper for Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows. He was a member of the Kohala Senior Citizens Club, he umpired for the Kohala Senior Citizens baseball league, and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 23 at the LDS church, Kohala ward, for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will be held in the Hawi County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire worn and flowers are welcome.

Barbara Rath

Barbara Jean Rath, 71, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 12, 2014. Born April 22, 1943, in Hume, N.Y., she was the payroll administrator at Tuttle Financial Services. She also attended Calvary Community Church and was a member of Kona Festival Chorale.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Aug. 23 at Calvary Community Church in Kailua-Kona for a service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Barbara’s name for the renovations at the church.

She is survived by husband, Jim; stepfather, Stan Tuttle of Cuba, N.Y., daughters, Jodi Murashige of Louisburg, N.C., Kristina Cimino of Beavercreek, Ohio; brother, Rodney (Cathy) Evans of Elmira, N.Y.; four granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

Kazue Keliikipi

Kazue “Jean” Ban Keliikipi, 93, of North Kohala died Aug. 5, 2014, at her home in Waikoloa. Born July 1, 1921, in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker, member of the Kohala Senior Citizens Club, Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kohala and Abundant Life Ministries in Waikoloa.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 23 at Jack Wylie Hall in North Kohala for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Wainaia Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Jeanette (Jim) Garrett of Arlington, Texas, brother, Robert (Betsy) Ban of Captain Cook, nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Beverly Rains

Beverly Jeanne Rains, 89, of Hilo died July 25, 2014, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born in Los Angeles, she was a retired television commercial producer and director.

Services will be held at a later date in Los Angeles.

She is survived by son, Loren Avedon of Pahoa; granddaughter, Nicole Avedon of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
