A Hilo man has been charged with three offenses in connection with an alleged assault last Saturday evening in Hilo.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, a 23-year-old Hilo man reported that while he was in a parked vehicle off Piopio Street, an acquaintance struck him in the arm with a metal object and threatened additional physical harm.

At 9:20 p.m., police arrested 31-year-old Joshua Resun of Hilo. He was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

Resun was charged on Sunday with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, third-degree assault and second-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $3,000. He was to remain in the cellblock until his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
