Robert Medeiros

Robert “Robby” Ernest Medeiros, 69, of Mountain View died Aug. 31, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired glazier and a member of Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 at Glad Tidings Church, 113 Kuawa St. for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Lea Medeiros of Mountain View; sons, Robert (Kori Ann) Medeiros of Hilo, Russell Medeiros of Ocean View; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donald Van Horn

Donald Dell Van Horn, 68, of Pahoa died Aug. 15, 2014, at home. Born in Alhambra, Calif., he was a retired landscaper. He also played the part of “Stanley the Clown” on Maui and Hawaii Island.

Services will be held later on Maui and Hawaii Island.

He is survived by companion, Cheryl Carocci of Pahoa; brother, Verne Van Horn of California; several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn Coday

Marilyn Lines Coday, 87, of Waimea died Aug. 25, 2014, at home. Born in Springfield, Mo. she was a retired public school teacher and librarian.

Private services were held.

She is survived by daughter, Michaela (William Thomas) Aiona of Waimea; sons, Michael (Marylea) Coday of Chehalis, Wash. and Mark (Tina) Coday of McQueeney, Texas; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Billy Mitchel

Billy George Mitchel, 69, of Pepeekeo died Aug. 27, 2014, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born on Oct. 28, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Okla., he worked on a farm, in real estate sales, as a landscaper and care giver.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Alae Cemetery. The family requests casual attire; flowers are welcome.

He is survived by son, Shanti Jonathan Mitchel of Florida; sister, Glenda (Richard) Palmer of California; three nephews, one niece and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Brian Ettley

A name was misspelled in Brian Ettley’s obituary, published Aug. 26. The correct spelling of his daughter’s name is Caitlyn Ettley.
