HONOLULU — The Filipino Community Center is honoring former Hawaii Supreme Court justices Simeon Acoba Jr. and Mario Ramil this month.

The center’s annual Bayanihan gala and fundraiser dinner on Oct. 25 will also honor philanthropist Maria Etrata.

Etrata is president of Preferred Home and Community Based Services and a charitable foundation.

Bayanihan Chairwoman Rosemarie Mendoza says the honorees are wonderful examples of how Filipinos have contributed to the state and country.

Previous honorees include television producer and broadcast personality Emme Tomimbang, former Sen. Daniel Akaka and the Consuelo Foundation’s former president, Patty Lyons.

The dinner raises funds for the Waipahu center’s educational, cultural and social programs. The event is being held at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
