The Donkey Mill Art Center offers the following classes and events during November:

— Screen printing and design meets with Lindsay Lander from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 7 to 21. Notan is a Japanese design concept illustrating the interaction between positive and negative space. Based on the light-dark design principles of Notan, students will learn the basics of screen printing to design and will print on their own T-shirt. Early registration is $135. — Figure drawing, art of the human form using live models is a self-guided program meeting from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 7 to 21. Models will pose with props and poses inspired by Edgar Degas, a French artist (1834–1917) renowned for capturing figures in movement and moments of psychological complexity. — Kona Coffee Cultural Festival exhibit reception will be held at 6 p.m Nov. 14 at the center, featuring artwork inspired by Kona coffee and coffee-themed items will be for sale.

Photographing your artwork and preparing for gallery submission meets with with Laurel Schultz and Eric Edwards from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8. A short lecture reviews tips and procedures for preparing submissions, calling for exhibitions and gallery submission. Also covered are basic techniques for digitizing drawings, paintings, fiber art, ceramics or sculptures through accurate photograpy. Registration is $90 for members, $108 for nonmembers. Registration deadline is Saturday.

— A professional development workshop, “My Painting is Pau…What Now?” is conducted by Marc Paisin from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 12 to 19. Early registration is $85.

Lauhala weaving is taught by Nanette Bell from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15. Tuition is $55.

“Sculpture Basics: Introduction to Stone” with John Matsushita is held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 15 to Dec. 13 (excluding Dec. 6). This series focuses on foundational techniques for creating 3-D form as well as shaping stone using hand tools, basic characteristics of stone, how to shape, cut and finish, limitations and advantages of working in stone and different types that can be used. It is open to total beginners as well as anyone interested in sculpture. Students start with soft material and progress to a final piece in classic limestone. Tuition is $225.

— A Floral Arrangement Workshop focusing on Thanksgiving centerpieces meets with Scott Seymour from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 26. Tuition is $55.

— “Collage Journaling” taught by Lindsay Lander meets from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 26 to Dec. 17. Students will create a recycled collage journal that will serve as an ongoing playground for thoughts, ideas, images, sketches, writing, and sudden urges for creativity. Watercolor, acrylic, oil pastel, ink, gesso, paper, fabric, photos and other materials will be used.

— A holiday concert and silent auction fundraiser with Bill Noble Jazz Combo is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Holualoa Inn Malulani Pavilion. Attendees will enjoy a unique jazz experience while bidding on original works of art with sales benefiting the Donkey Mill Art Center, the home of Holualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture, a nonprofit organization. Admission is $60 per person; limited tickets may be purchased in advance.
