The second annual Kahilu Theatre Masquerade Ball will take place at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Grand Ballroom. This will be a night of hot gypsy jazz, featuring music by the Hot Club of Hulaville.

The Masquerade Ball is a callback to the swanky, swinging parties of the theater’s early gilded heyday, hosted by actor/director Richard Smart, the theater’s founder. Festivities include gypsy tents with fortune telling, tattoos and tarot, with belly dancers and magicians roaming the room. Everyone is invited to don a mask and glamorous gypsy-inspired attire.

The Hot Club of Hulaville is Hawaii’s leading event band. Member Duane Padilla is on violin, Sonny Silva on guitar, Ernie Provencher on bass and Willow Chang-Alleon on vocals. The band won the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Jazz Album in 2010.

The event will start at 6 p.m. with hosted libations, pupu and a silent auction followed by dinner with food stations by Hilton chefs then a live auction and dancing to the music of the Hot Club of Hulaville.
