Simeona Aina

Simeona Aina, 69, of Naalehu died Dec. 2, 2014, at Ka’u Hospital. Born in American Samoa, he retired as a bus driver for Roberts Hawaii.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Naalehu Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for a service. Friends may call again at 9 a.m. Dec. 20 for an 11 a.m. service. Burial will follow at the Naalehu Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Suzanne Aina of Naalehu; sons, Risiti (Sharon) Aina of Nanawale, Liugalua (Angela) Aina of California, Simeona Aina Jr. of Texas, Anthony (Sunrose) Aina of Oregon, Simeona Aina III of Hilo and Setefano Galuefa Aina of Naalehu; daughters, Dorothy (Lewis) Mata of Oregon, Suzanne Aina of Naalehu and Samantha Aina of Naalehu; brothers, Setefano (Tina) Aina of California, Faigata Aina of Alaska, Faigofie Aina of California, Mumaina (Alofa) Aina of Honolulu, To’aiva Nunu of California, Sola (Tepa) Aina of California, Aleipata (Nofo) Aina of Alaska, Tafagafaga (Mau) Savea of California, Fa’amaini (Lalelei) Savea of California and Faigata Jr. (Tina) Savea of Washington; sisters Tiana (Mika) Mauga of California, Sandy (Eliga) Lefotu of Arizona, Feliu’ai (Ti’i) Iauulualo of Oregon, Senerita (Suitulaga) Faiai of California, Felosiai (Scotty) Mautautia of California and Flo (Umu) Savea of Honolulu; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Isidoro Oandasan

Isidoro Unciano Oandasan, 92, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 23, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 4, 1922, in Ballesteros Cagayan, Philippine Islands, he was a cook at the former Kona Galley Restaurant, a foreman at the Ackerman Ranch, a coffee farmer and a security guard.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Dec. 20 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. service The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by sons, Conrad Oandasan of Maui, Sidney (Corinna) Oandasan and Jason (Denise) Oandasan, all of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Francine (Rockney) Perez, Stephanie Oandasan, all of Oahu; stepson, Effren (Tammy) Pascua of Paauilo; stepdaughters, Mindy Clark, Vilma (George) Pascua-Lindo, Lisa (Lou) Gomera, Jessica (Steven Tossman) Pascua, all of Kailua-Kona, Florinda (Zach) Tadio of Paauilo; numerous brothers and sisters; 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Confessor Riveira

Confessor “Confe” Riveira, 90, of Captain Cook died Nov. 30, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Wailuku, Maui, he was a retired coffee and macadamia nut farmer. He was also a former member of the Kohala Puerto Rican Club and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Dec. 20 at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 77-165 Lako St. in Kailua-Kona for a 9 a.m. service. Inurnment will follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Ethel Riveira of Captain Cook; sons, Patrick (Edna) Riveira of Hawi, Lionel (Paulette) Riveira of Keauhou, Bernard (Lucille Greenstreet) Riveira of Holualoa; daughters, Sandra (Carlos) Valencia of Glorietta, N.M., Gloria Riveira of Oahu, Linda (Michael) Valencia of Rio Rancho, N.M.; brother, Albert Riveira of Oahu; sister, Susie (Rip) Van Winkle of Oahu; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

John Owens

John Owens, 89, of Pahoa died Nov. 21, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Brownsville, Texas, he was a retired welder for the U.S. Navy Seabees, member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Masons. Official Navy burial at sea will take place at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Mary Owens of Pahoa; son, Clifford Owens of Missouri; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
