HAGATNA — The death of a woman in Guam is being investigated as a homicide.

The Pacific Daily News, a Guam newspaper, reports the woman died from a close-range gunshot wound to her face.

Guam’s chief medical examiner Aurelio Espinola said Monday that the 54-year-old Russian woman had no other injuries. The woman’s name was not immediately released.

Police spokesman A.J. Balajadia says officers responded to a South Santa Cruz Drive home in Agat Sunday night after receiving a report of a possible suicide.

Balajadia says the investigation was reclassified as a homicide after the autopsy.
