No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-6.8 earthquake that struck Tuesday in Japan.

The earthquake was recorded at 11:13 a.m. Hawaii time near the east coast of Honshu, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
