Police investigating body found under Hamakua bridge

Hawaii Island police have initiated a coroner’s inquest case after a body was found Friday morning under a bridge along the Hamakua Coast.

In response to a 9:10 a.m. call, officers located a man’s lifeless body at the bottom of the Nanue Bridge in the Umauma area, near mile marker 18 on Highway 19, the Hawaii Police Department said. Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation.
