The Blue Sea Artisans featured artist for the month of July is oil watercolor painter Marilyn Koschella. Koschella paints mainly seascapes along the Kona Coast, including with the West Hawaii Plein Air Painters.

Her featured artwork is an oil painting titled, “Surf’s Up at Kealakekua Bay.”

Koschella’s first trip to Hawaii was in 1962 and she immediately felt the “Aloha Spirit.” She purchased her home in Kona in 2008 and moved here in 2009 upon her retirement.

The Blue Sea Artisans will host a featured artist’s reception for Koschella from 1 to 4 p.m. July 11 at the gallery located at the Kona International Market in Kailua-Kona. Pupu and music will be provided.

The Blue Sea Artisans gallery is located on the north side of the makai building of the market off Luhia Street in Kailua-Kona. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
