Firefighters quickly doused a structure fire that broke out shortly before noon Sunday at a Keaau home.

Responding to the 11:52 a.m. alarm, firefighters arrived at the home on Paahana Street to find a single-story structure with smoke emanating from the roof and attic areas, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department. Two elderly occupants escaped the blaze and did not require medical attention.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and declared it extinguished within just 13 minutes of their arrival.

Damage was estimated at $5,000.
