HONOLULU (AP) — More than two dozen dogs are being rescued by animal welfare workers who say this is the first feral pack to get picked up on Oahu in two years.
There are 27 dogs being rescued by the Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals from a coastal town about 30 miles northwest of Honolulu, Hawaii News Now reported (http://bit.ly/1DbDuWk).
Rescue team member Stephanie Ryan says the animals were found wandering a property in the coastal town of Waianae.
She said they were living in deplorable conditions, starving and without water. She said the residents in the area didn’t have the means to take care of the animals.
Supplies were left for the dogs that couldn’t be taken right away. Three black-eared white puppies were rescued on the first day animal rescue workers arrived.
Once all the dogs are rescued, they’ll be treated and trained for adoption.
