Tropical Storm Felicia has formed in the Eastern Pacific, far from Hawaii, and was packing 40 mph winds on Thursday. However, unfriendly environmental conditions were expected to cap the cyclone’s strength, and the system was already diminishing in strength Thursday morning shortly after reaching tropical storm status.

Located 435 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, the storm was moving northwest at 13 mph.

Forecasters say Felicia will likely become a tropical depression on Friday and a remnant low the day after.
