Hawaii Island police have arrested a 35-year-old Hilo man who was being sought on several warrants of arrest.

George Kahakua Jr. turned himself in at the Hilo police station Monday and was charged with four counts of contempt of court. His bail was set at $1,450.

He was also arrested in connection with a car break-in on Sept. 21 in Hilo. A 28-year-old Hilo man reported that his car was broken into while it was parked off Kilauea Avenue near Aupuni Street. The man’s credit card was later used at a store on Makaala Street. Investigation led to Kahakua’s identity.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Kahakua was charged with theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and three counts of ID theft. His bail for those offenses was set at $21,000.
