Sunday is America Recycles Day and Hawaii Recycles Day. Sponsored by Keep America Beautiful, the day is dedicated to recycling across the United States.

America Recycles Day falls on the final day of the fifth annual Recycle-Bowl School Competition. Ten schools in Hawaii are participating in the nationwide competition to collect and recycle as much as possible on their campuses. Students on Kauai, Maui and Hawaii Islands, including at Konawaena Middle and High schools are taking part.

Also in celebration of American Recycles Day, Recycle Hawaii presented its 2015 Keeping It Green Hawaii award to KTA Super Stores. The business demonstrates green initiatives such as using renewable energy, providing youth service-learning projects and supporting locally grown food and products.

Recycle Hawaii partners with Keep the Hawaiian Islands Beautiful and Keep Hawaii Beautiful to promote Recycle-Bowl and America Recycles Day events throughout the islands.
