The Waimea Arts Council presents its Master’s Collection Juried Exhibition, showcasing artwork from member artists at the Firehouse Gallery in Waimea this month.

Wilfred Yamasawa of Holualoa, a local glass blower and published poet, and visiting artist William Matisse, a painter and sculptor from Los Angeles, judged the show.

“Work came from every medium and era. Mosaic work, jewelry, framed artwork, both large and small, and three dimensional pieces were all considered for the collection,” said WAC President Amaury Saint-Gilles.

“There was no special prize for being juried into this show, having the honor of being chosen was the prize. And since many of our artists from the past had never before been considered for inclusion via purchase by the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts, their coming to review this show was certainly an added plus,” he added.

A new mural also was installed Nov. 4.
