Gail Medeiros

Gail P. Medeiros, 59, of Ocean View died Dec. 23, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 21, 1956, in Kona, she was a landscaper for a landscaping company.

Friends may call at noon Jan. 16 at the Waiohinu Park in Naalehu for a celebration of her life. Family requests casual attire be worn; flowers, lei are welcomed.

She is survived by daughters, Dina (Wayne) Tamura of Ka‘u, Desma Aniban of Kona; son, Dustin (Shara) Aniban of Honolulu; father, Gilbert Medeiros Sr. of Ka‘u; brother, Gilbert (Chris) Medeiros Jr. of Ka‘u; sisters, Peggyann (Tolo) Tolentino of Kawaihae, Sheila Mitchell of the mainland; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ruth Santos

Ruth Ann Santos, 65, of Hilo, passed away peacefully on Jan. 14, 2016. Ruth was born on March 6, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo. She retired as a State Department of Education teacher.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m Jan. 18 at Ruth and Rainer Santos’ residence. She is survived by her spouse, Rainer Santos of Hilo; mother, Betty DiGusto of Kansas City; sons, Michael Santos of Hilo and Eric Santos of Bangkok, Thailand; daughter, Samantha (Rocket) Roque of Hilo and hanai daughter Jensten Andrade of Hilo; brothers, Daniel DiGusto of Kansas City; sisters, Julie (Charles) Winfree of Apache Junction, Ariz.; aunt, in-laws and numerous nephews.

Florence Buyuan

Florence “Aunty Flo” Buyuan, 84, died Dec. 25, 2015, in Hilo. Born Sept. 10, 1931, in Pahala, she worked for Smartwear, Life Care Center of Hilo, Wigwam and Payless, was a member of the Alu Like of Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn; flowers are welcome. Burial will be at noon at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section.

She is survived by son, Brice (Tina) Buyuan of Captain Cook; daughters, Ruby Larioza, Grace (Gaylord) Kualii, Davelyn (Jack) Thompson Cuellar, Kimi Taniguchi and Candace (Thomas) Buyuan Escritor of Hilo; hanai daughter, Ona (Glen) Aniban of Pahala; 27 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
