Carolyn Blankfield

Carolyn Vivien Blankfield, 75, of Hilo died April 26, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Milwaukee, Wis., she was a licensed clinical social worker in private practice and she pursued a 50-year career that spanned New York City, Wisconsin, Illinois and Virginia before coming to Hawaii in 2000 where she served as a mentor to new social workers and taught at University of Hawaii at Hilo. She received Social Work Director of the Year awards in Wisconsin and Virginia and served as president of the Hawaii Writers Association, member of the Hilo Medical Center Foundation Board and member of the American Association of University Women.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Hawaii Public Radio or the Palace Theater.

She is survived by son, Alexander (Kelly Ota) Hatzis of Oahu; brother, Allen (Christy Brooks) Silverstein of Milwaukee; a grandchild, a niece and nephews.

Nancy Botticelli

Nancy Joanne Botticelli, 66, of Waimea died April 22, 2016. Born Feb. 13, 1950, in Oakland, Calif., she was a self-employed graphic artist working as Botticelli Designs and Kawaihae Card Co.

She is survived by spouse, Marc; sons, Paul (Ondine) Rangel of Berkeley, Calif.; Tim Rangel of Santa Rosa, Calif.; mother, Edna Olmstead of El Sobrante, Calif.; brother, Danny Olmstead of San Francisco; sister, Sue (Steve) Wilson of Vernon Hills, Ill.; three grandchildren.

Ichiro Hirayama

Ichiro Hirayama, 76, of Hilo died March 28, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 21, 1939, in Kumamoto, Japan, he retired from the Department of Transportation Airports Division as a Groundskeeper.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.

He is survived by wife, Mae Hirayama of Hilo; daughters, Amy (Radford) Hirai of Hilo, Lynn (Solomon) Scott of Ohio; sister, Kuniko (Douglas) Tsuda of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.
