Hilo resident and author Harry Char announces the nationwide release of the second edition of his juvenile fiction, “The Laulau Man,” where he mixes mystery with Hawaiian culture.

Laulau is a popular Hawaiian delicacy made with roast pork, fish and greens, wrapped in ti leaves. In “The Laulau Man,” 12-year-old Chase uses his sharp power of observation and keen memory to help the police with a case involving the suspicious sale of laulau.

Char is a retired elementary school principal in Hilo who holds a master’s degree education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Born and raised in Honolulu, he also served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard, where he retired as a captain following three decades of service.
