Thanks for clarification

I’d like to thank Edward H. Schulman for sharing his succinct clarification on Harvard University’s gap year policy (May 10, WHT). That was very enlightening and educational.

Please excuse my faux pas.

With all due respect, I did not mean to imply Malia Obummer’s special treatment to Harvard University (May 9, WHT). First, I did not create or entitle the letter to the editor subtitle, “Saved means special treatment.”

You may thank WHT for that. Second, if I had to imply anything, it would be that Malia’s premature matriculation at Harvard University could possibly deny another non-white, perhaps disadvantaged person equally or better qualified to attend in 2017. What if a more deserving student in 2017 was denied admission because of this gap year policy?

Thirdly, why is this newsworthy? I would personally put this in “file 13.”

Thank you West Hawaii for your time.

Dear Mr. Paul Ryan

I am not in your district. Not even in your state, but had to contact you as a representative of our country and the Republican party.

I am just sick about the possibility of you, Mr. Paul Ryan, supporting Donald Trump. Looks like you are willing to put the Party before the welfare of our country.

Really? Trump represents the core values of the Republican Party? Hate? Anti-Muslims? Defaming Mexicans? Woman hater? Going bankrupt as a way to only pay half of what one owes! Seriously, Republicans are business people. Trump has absolutely no moral compass! Is that what our country has come to?

Trump is an embarrassment. The world opinion of our country is zilch right now. What are you thinking? Buying the position of vice president?
