Free creative writing sessions for youth

Kona 4-H Youth Development Program presents “Fun with Words” free creative writing sessions with Lucy Jones for youth in grades 4 and 5.

The meetings will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on three consecutive Tuesdays: June 14, 21 and 28.

Attendees should register for all three sessions as they build upon each other. Space is limited. Registration by Monday.

Learn to lead caregiving classes

Hawaii Community Caregiver Network is sponsoring a two-day class leader training called Powerful Tools for Caregivers. The workshop will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 16-17 at Regency at Hualalai, 75-181 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona.

The class is designed to train individuals to co-lead Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes in their communities. This training session will include lesson plans for caregivers who are raising grandchildren. Trainers must agree to co-lead two class series for family caregivers within a year after completion. A $100 deposit will be collected for certification and returned to registrants upon completion of the training.

Kona Historical Society offers Father’s Day gift baskets

Kona Historical Society is selling Father’s Day gift boxes containing 100 percent Kona coffee that can be shipped to his house. Purchases directly support the educational programs and preservation projects of the Kona Historical Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
