Mabel De Rego

Mabel (De Coite Gomes) De Rego, 91, of Ahualoa died May 20, 2016, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born Nov. 25, 1924, in Ahualoa, she was a former usher at the Doc Hill Theatre and Tanimoto Theatre, and a former candy maker for T.H. Davies &Co., member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and the Honokaa Senior Citizens Club.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. June 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa with a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Michael (Laurine) De Rego, Mario (Vivien) De Rego, Mark (Brenda) De Rego, all of Ahualoa; daughter, Marlene (Phillip) Bugado of Paauilo; stepson, Dennis (Leilani) Vierra of Hilo; sisters, Eleanor Carvalho of Hilo and Mary Lou (Gilbert) Ferreira of Oahu; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

June Gualdarama

June Pearl Mary Gualdarama, 70, of Hilo died June 4, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born June 12, 1945, in Pahala, she was a homemaker and member of New Hope – Hilo.

Friends may call at 3:45 p.m. June 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. A graveside service will be held at noon June 13 at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Primitivo Gualdarama of Hilo; sons, Raymond (Ranisha) Gualdarama of Ohio, John (Heather Fergerstrom) Gualdarama of Hilo; daughter, Primalynn (Wallace) Bullard of Oahu; one uncle; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert Kita

Robert Susumu Kita, 85, of Keaau died May 9, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 6, 1931, in Hawi, he was a retired educator with the Hawaii and Colorado community colleges, Director of Hawaii Community College Job Experience Education Program, vocational education specialist for Alu Like, consultant for the Hawaii State Department of Corrections Education System, teacher at various Oahu public schools, JV baseball coach at Farrington High School and an Army Korean War veteran.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. June 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers. Condolences may be sent to HCR 1 Box 5325, Keaau, HI 96749.

He is survived by wife, Suzanne Kita of Keaau; sons, Glen (Carol) Kita of Aiea, Oahu, Michael Kita of Kapolei, Oahu, Oran Kita and Scott Kita, both of Keaau; brother, Charles (Alison) Kita of Kapaau; sister, Tsuruko (James) Miura of Pearl City, Oahu; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Leinora Wright

Leinora Pele Kukua Wright, 63, of Honaunau died April 26, 2016, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born July 4, 1952, in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker and a coffee and macadamia nut farmer.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to sunset on June 11 at the Napoopoo pavilion at Kealakekua Bay for a memorial service. The family requests casual attire and welcomes lei and flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Kahealani Wright of Opihihale; son, Kua (Harmony) Wright of Honaunau; brothers, Arthur Kukua of Las Vegas, Byron Kukua of Kealakekua; sisters, Jeanette (George) Perreira, Marvalee Banagan, all of Kailua-Kona, Moani Kukua of Utah, Ardis Casuga of Milolii; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Walter Koyanagi

Walter “Koya” Megumu Koyanagi, 77, of Kealakekua died May 6, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born Sept. 12, 1938, in Honolulu he was a retired mason, member of the Parks and Recreation and Senior Bowling Leagues and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. June 11 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Hall in Kealakekua for a 3 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Eileen Koyanagi of Kealakekua; son, Guy (Gwen) Koyanagi of Captain Cook; daughters, Susan (Rodney) Camarao of Waipahu, Oahu, Shari Phillips of St. Louis, Tammy (Kevin) Omori of Kealakekua; brother, Donald (Vivian) Koyanagi of Aiea, Oahu; sister, Sarah Ogata of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Hisako Hiraki

Hisako Hiraki, 96, of Hilo died June 1, 2016, at Pohai Malama. Born Aug. 24, 1919, in Kohala, she was a retired employee of Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and a kyodan member of the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. June 12 at Hilo Higashi Hongwanji for a 3 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers or koden, contributions can be made to the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji or Hospice of Hilo. Condolences may be posted at homelanimemorialpark.com.

Michele Griffiths

Michele Griffiths, 67, of Pahoa died May 23, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 3, 1949, in Brighton, England.

She is survived by husband, Richard Griffiths of Kehena; son, Daniel (Cindy) Griffiths of California; one grandchild.

Marion Harada

Marion Yaeko Harada, 97, of Kailua-Kona died April 10, 2016, at Lily’s Care Home. Born Feb. 15, 1919, in Honolulu, she was a coffee roaster.

Private services were held.

She is survived by son, Will (Sandy) Harada of Washington, D.C., one granddaughter.
