Kona Crush Academy sends players to Seattle

The Kona Crush Soccer Academy took three groups of youth players on a soccer and culture trip to Seattle. The groups all had a chance to experience professional soccer camps and play in the Delta Nike Crossfire Challenge.

The two boys groups trained with MLS organization, the Seattle Sounders, and the girls had a personal training camp with Women’s Professional Organization team, the Seattle Reign FC. All three groups also had the chance to watch games by both professional teams.

Besides soccer, the players were able to experience the city and visited several cultural sites and attractions, including various museums, as well as the aquarium and the Space Needle.

The trip was highlighted bu the youngest boys team winning the Crossfire Challenge U13 division. The Kona Crush U13 team went undefeated through the tourney and won the final match 2-1 in overtime.

“Several parents and players from opposing teams throughout the tournament complimented the group on their enthusiasm and Aloha, and even came to watch them play in the final game,” said Coach James Berry, who is the Director of Pre Academy for the Kona Crush. “The inaugural mainland trip was a resounding success and the club is looking forward to making more of these in the future.”
