Hawaii Island police are asking for the public’s help to identify three women wanted for questioning in a grocery store theft that occurred last month in Kailua-Kona.

At around 4 p.m. on July 9, a suspect described as a 5-foot-10, 170-pound “local-looking” woman in her 30s entered a grocery store on the 75-1000 block of Henry Street. According to the report, she left the store with several food and alcoholic beverages without paying. The value of the items taken amounted to more than $400.

Security footage captured her image as well as the image of two other women who were spotted with the suspect, and who police described as persons of interest in the case. The first woman was described as Caucasian, between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-7, weighing 230 to 270 pounds with a heavily tattooed upper body. She was wearing a white tank top and blue shorts.

The second woman was also described as Caucasian, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-7, weighing 180 to 220 pounds. She was clothed in a red-and-pink striped tank top and blue jeans.

Police request anyone with information on the suspect or either person of interest to contact the department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or call Officer Ronald Borowski at 326-4646, extension 253.

Informants wishing to remain anonymous may contact islandwide Crime Stoppers at 961-8300. Crime Stoppers keeps all information confidential. Tipsters who call may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
