Un-American style capitalism

A businessman wishes to expand so he contacts his legislator. A “campaign contribution” is made. Legislator hires family to “advise” in the campaign. Legislator’s family gets wealthier. Legislator adds an “earmark” to a bill for businessmen who gets wealthier and becomes a Fat Cat leader of his industry. Legislator gets reelected for bringing money into his district. Taxpayers pay more taxes.

Fat Cat’s industry wishes to eliminate foreign competition and contacts their legislator. A PAC is formed and a “campaign contribution” is made. Legislator hires family to “advise” in the campaign. Legislator’s family gets wealthier. Legislator adds an“import restriction” to a bill for Fat Cat’s industry. Fat Cat gets wealthier, but few jobs are “saved.” Legislator gets reelected for saving “American jobs” in his district. Consumers pay higher prices.

Fat Cat retires and gets appointed to an ambassadorship. Legislator retires and becomes lobbyist in Fat Cat’s industry. When the economy falters “capitalism” is blamed. Legislator and Fat Cat are called out of retirement for their “expert” advice. Legislator and Fat Cat recommend more “government regulation.” Fat Cats get wealthier, legislators get more power, taxpayers and consumers again pay.

American big government style capitalism is not capitalism.
