The sixth annual Hawaii Artist Collaboration will host its “Live & Silent” auction event from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Holualoa Inn in North Kona.

Thirty-six artists from 14 disciplines will travel from near and far to participate in the collaboration celebrating Holomua Kakou, Hawaiian for “moving forward together. Jewelers, painters, woodworkers, blacksmiths, ceramists, sculptors, and more, will embark on a week long journey of artistic collaboration that culminates in the auction event showcasing the artwork created during the collaboration.

The public is invited to experience the results of the collaborations, meet and talk story with the artists, as well as bid on the live and silent auctions. There will also be wine and beer sampling, local food and live music. The suggested event donation is $30, keiki under 12 are free.

All monies raised will be donated to Hawaii Island public school art teachers for classroom art supplies. Teachers are encouraged to apply for funds via at www.hawaiiartistcollaboration.org or in person at Akamai Art Supply, located in Hale Kui Plaza, 73-4976 Kamanu St., in Kaillua-Kona.

The Hawaii Artist Collaboration is a 501(c)(3) that provides a meeting ground for artists of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and cultures in order to plan, develop, and implement arts and crafts education and opportunities in the communities of Hawaii and beyond. Inspired by similar events in Canada and New Zealand, founders Cliff Johns and Tai Lake have created an event in Hawaii.
