A fire in Pahoa also destroyed most of a home Wednesday, the Hawaii Fire Department reported Thursday.

The fire in the one-story home on the 15-3400 block of Shell Road was reported at 3:35 p.m. When the first units arrived at 3:52 p.m., the home was completely engulfed, the department wrote.

Within 18 minutes, the fire was controlled. At 4:30 p.m. it was extinguished.

Damage was listed as $104,000. A total of $8,000 in property was listed as saved.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday.
