Leilani Tagalicod

Leilani Rosaline Tagalicod, 75, formerly Leilani Rosaline Marzo of Pahoa died Nov. 12, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Hilo.

Born Dec. 23, 1940, in Olaa, she worked at Frank Huff Agency, was a secretary at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a retired secretary for Kamehameha Early Education program. She also was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kaahumanu Society Hilo Chapter 3.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Dec. 10 at Pahoa Sacred Catholic Church with a 10 a.m. Mass. Urn burial to follow at the Pahoa Sacred Heart Cemetery. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed.

She is survived by daughter, Diane (Norman) Kramer of Hilo; son, Eric (Kahea Mulec) Tagalicod of Hilo; sisters, Joann (John) Kalawe of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Evalani Marzo of Hilo, Shirleen Marzo of Honolulu; brother, Richard Marzo of Hawaiian Beaches; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Christopher Linden

Dr. Christopher James Linden, 70, of Hilo died Nov. 11, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 28, 1946, in Seattle, he was a family medicine physician in Hilo and an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era.

Visitation will be from 2-3:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo with a 3:30 p.m. service. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Rosemary Linden of Hilo; sons, Paul Mitchell (Nam Jeong Choi) Linden of Texas and James Scott Linden of Honolulu; two grandchildren.

Theresa English

Theresa Marie English, 66, of Hakalau died Oct. 24, 2016, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, she had a career in banking, established the English Family Farm, was a deacon of the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ, community assistance volunteer, member of the Rotary Club of Hilo, American Association of University Women Hilo Branch, Children of Faith Missions, Women’s Walking Group.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at Hilo Coast United Church of Christ in Honomu, with a noon celebration of life. A luncheon will follow. Aloha attire is requested. In lieu of flowers monetary offerings, donations may be made to Hospice of Hilo and Hawaii Food Basket.

She is survived by husband, Robert English of Hakalau; daughter, Heather Marie (Eddie Oh) English of Oakland, Calif.; sister, Marguerite Riordan of Pleasanton, Calif.; one aunt; numerous nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Richard Johnson

Richard David Johnson, 60, of Hilo died Nov. 21, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born Jan. 23, 1956, in Anaheim, Calif.

Services will be held at a later date in Hilo.

He is survived by friend, Sarah Edlao of Hilo; sons, Kawika Johnson, Brian Johnson, both of Hilo.

Emma Clark

Emma Lou Clark, 88, of Milolii died Oct. 18, 2016, at her residence. Born Dec. 24, 1927, in Mexico, she was a housewife.

No services will be held.

She is survived by sons, Danny (Janet) Raquinio of King City, Calif., Ray (Linda) Raquinio and Roy (Rennata) Raquinio, all of Ocean View, John (Nora) Oldenkamp of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughter, Diana (Steve) Hylegund of Fremont, Calif.; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

Betty Araujo

Betty Yok Sim Araujo, 95, of Hilo died Nov. 27, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo, Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kurtistown, she worked for Dick’s Coffee House in Hilo and was a lei maker.

She is survived by son, Ray Kawachi of Hilo; daughters, Ann (Roy) Yonashiro of Honolulu, Lynn (James) Okuna of Hilo, hanai daughter, Lembi James of Hilo; brothers, Ah Kwock Ho of California, Peter (Victoria ) Ho of Honolulu; sisters, Billie (Samuel) Ching of Kaneohe, Oahu, Janet (Eric) Crabbe of Aiea, Oahu; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney Kawamura

Rodney Mitsushi Kawamura, 72, of Hilo died Nov. 12, 2016, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olaa, he was a civil engineer, surveyor and owner of Hilo Engineering, Inc.

Private family services were held. The family requests that monetary donations be omitted.

He is survived by wife, Myra Kawamura of Hilo; sons, Blaine (Cindy) Kawamura of Honolulu, Craig (Jackie Ikeda) Kawamura of Hilo; sisters, Evelyn (Taka) Kawakami, Judith (Walter) Watanabe, all of Honolulu; two grandchildren.

Robert Maddux

Robert E. Maddux, 79, of Pahoa died Nov. 21, 2016, at home. Born in Iowa, he was the mayor at Boy’s Town in Omaha. He was an Eagle Scout, state champion athlete/scholar, an Army veteran, superintendent of schools in California, served as president of Eureka California Club and a Felix Monitor in Hawaii, and member of the South Hilo Rotary Club.

He is survived by wife, Christine; two children; two grandchildren.
