Gladys Nakamura

Gladys Nobuko Nakamura, 92, of Keaau died Nov. 22, 2016, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Olaa, she was a retired accountant from Fort Shafter in Honolulu, a former president and member of Keaau Village Association, and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, RSVP, and formed the BWA Christmas wrap.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 17 at Puna Hongwanji Mission in Keaau for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by siblings, Fumiko Suzuki of Hilo, Goro Nakamura of Pearl City, Oahu, Uro Nakamura of Los Angeles; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Edith Santiago

Edith Santiago, 98, of Campbell, Calif. died Nov. 22, 2016, at her residence. Born June 6, 1918, in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be held at noon Dec. 13 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Old Kona Airport pavilion No. 3 in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Julio Ruiz Jr., of Honolulu, Tom (Darleen) Moran of San Jose, Calif., Bill Moran of Sacramento, Calif., Anthony (Lynn) Santiago and John Focht, all of San Jose, Calif.; hanai son, Edward Santiago of San Jose, Calif.; daughters, Carol Gusman and Sharron Bess, both of San Jose, Calif.; hanai daughter, Wendy (Roger) Salinas of Kawaihae; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Danilo Ducusin

Danilo “Nilo” Gallardo Ducusin, 45, of Pepeekeo died Nov. 27, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born Nov. 23, 1971, in Hilo, he was a landscaper for Puna Certified Nursery and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Visitation will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Papaikou with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Alae Cemetery, Section I.

Casual attire.

He is survived by mother, Praxedes Ducusin of Pepeekeo; sister, Merlita (John) Mayhew of Illinois; brothers, Camelo Ducusin of Pepeekeo and Jeorge (Ann) Ducusin of Mountain View; nine nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Alfred Hart Jr.

Alfred Hart Jr., 85, of Honokaa died Dec. 8, 2016, at his residence. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired vector inspector for the state of Hawaii, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, Kanani O Honokaa Senior Makule Softball League, former coach for T-Ball, Little League and women’s softball and a U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call from 8–9:30 a.m. Dec. 16 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Burial will follow at the Honokaa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Caroline Hart of Honokaa; sons, Presley (Debora) Hart, Kyle Hart, both of Honokaa; daughter, Alfreda (Zachary Arenaydo) Hart of Waimea; brother, Rudolph (Kazue) Hart of Honokaa; sister, Helen (Gary) Aganus of Honokaa; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Winnie Gonsalves

Winnie “Winifred” Barbara Gonsalves, 82, of Hawi died Nov. 23, 2016, at her home. Born in Moanalua Gardens, Oahu, she was retired from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi, Kaahumanu Society, Na Kupuna ‘o Kohala, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, and Kohala Senior Nutrition.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for a 9:30 a.m. eulogy and a 10 a.m. Mass. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Family requests aloha/casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by daughter, I. Dede Caravalho of Hilo, Ekela (Keala) Kahuanui of Waimea; sons, Crawford Gonsalves of Kurtistown, A. Ikaika Gonsalves of Kona; brother, Abraham (Mary) Crawford of Waimanalo, Oahu; sister, Ellen (Taki) Yamaguchi of Aiea, Oahu; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
