Hawaii Island police arrested Kapono Labrador Wednesday and charged him with two felonies in connection with burglaries in Hilo.

On Monday, police received a report of power tools lifted during a burglary at a home on Ululani Street. Investigation led to the identification of Labrador, 23, as a suspect.

After executing a search warrant on the van Labrador had been driving, the Area I Criminal Investigations Section discovered stolen items from the burglary on Ululani Street. They also found evidence connecting Labrador to a second burglary involving electronics that had been stolen from a business on Ponahawai Street.

Labrador was charged Thursday with first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary, and his bail was set at $35,000. He remained at the Hilo police cellblock until his initial court appearance, which was scheduled for Friday.
