Marie Hannan

Marie Hannan (Mary Catherine Tretola) died Aug. 18, 2016, at Kaiser Moanalua hospital on Oahu. Born Feb. 15, 1948, in Jacksonville, Fla., she pioneered, owned and operated Hannans Barber Shop in Kona for 21 years and was a master barber.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at St. Michael the Archangels Catholic Church in Kona. Fellowship will be at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the church lanai.

She is survived by husband, Liam Hannan of Kona; brothers, Sal Tretola Jr., William Tretola, both of San Bernadino, Calif.; one nephew, two nieces; one aunt; two cousins.

Lila Keiter

Lila Jean Keiter, 91, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 14, 2017. Born June 30, 1925, in Keyport, Wash., she was an entrepreneur creating two businesses of customizing homemade birthday cakes in Philadelphia and later created Lila’s Originals hand-painted needlepoint canvasses of Hawaiian designs.

Private services were held on the beach of Kohanaiki.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Marion) Keiter of Somas, Calif., Marty (Lynn) Keiter of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Barbara Keiter of Mountain View, Jodi Keiter-Feinstein of Lancaster, Calif., Cindy (Lory Henning) Keiter of New York City, N,Y.; brother, Herbert (Lillian) Hammerslough of Palo Alto, Calif.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Yoshiyuki Izumi

Yoshiyuki “Christo” Izumi, 84, of Honalo died at his residence. Born in Honaunau, he was a retired supervisor for the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply.

He is survived by sisters, Lily (Stan) Tsunemoto and Natsuyo (Nick) Wong; daughters, Christine Izumi-Baltero (Raymond), and Joni Izumi-Nakamoto (Warren); son, Jason (Linda) Izumi; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private services were held.

James Kaukini Jr.

James Kaukini Jr., 83, of Honolulu died Nov. 26, 2016, at Aloha Care Hospice and Rehab Center in Kaneohe, Oahu. Born Feb. 11, 1933, in South Kona, he retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and was a Vietnam War veteran. He also retired from Kaneohe Marine Corp Air Station as acCivil engineer.

He is survived by wife, Yoshiko Kaukini of Honolulu; son, Michael Kaukini of Waikoloa; sisters, Ella Tirado, Frances Kalei (Phil) Austin, all of Hilo, Constance Hao of Molokai; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Private service was held.
