Jesse Kapahua

Jesse Reynolds Kapahua, 72, of Hilo died April 11, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 8, 1945, in Hilo, he was a helper at Leialoha Plumbing.

He is survived by hanai sister, Penny Aipoalani of Hilo; hanai daughter, Juby Aipoalani of Hilo; sister, Audrie (Quirino) Antonio of Hilo; brother, Alvin Kapahua of Honolulu.

Ernesto Buenavista

Ernesto Diosan Buenavista, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died March 29, 2017, at his residence. Born May 29, 1943, in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a kitchen utility worker at the King Kamehameha Hotel and a member of the HUB church.

A wake service will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 5 at Old Airport’s Makaeo pavilion. Visitation will continue at the pavilion at 8 a.m. May 6 with a funeral service at 9 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Vicky Buenavista of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Anna Fe (Wilson) Lopez and Elsa (Mel) Galanto, all of Kailua-Kona, Arleen (Louis) Delos Santos of Captain Cook; brothers, Philip (Sandy) Buenavista of Captain Cook; sisters, Magdalena Talladen of Captain Cook and Lourdes (Nick) Panglao of the Philippines; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shigeru Oshita

Shigeru Oshita, 99, of Kapaau died April 11, 2017, at the Kohala Hospital. Born in Union Mill, North Kohala, he was a retired industrial engineer for the former Kohala Sugar Co., member of the Kohala Jodo Mission, Kohala Senior Citizens Club and a World War II Army veteran.

Private services held.

He is survived by wife, Jane Oshita of Kapaau; sons, Dennis (Michele) Oshita of Mililani, Oahu, Andrew (Marcia) Oshita of Roseburg, Oregon; daughter, Aileen (Michael) Jervis Hilo; sister, Doris Kamihara of Honolulu; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
