HONALO — The Rotary Club of Kona Mauka recently recognized Jan Kanike Benlein, Director of the nonprofit Aunty’s Angels, with its Rotary Vocational Award of Professional Excellence.

At an award presentation, the club recognized Benlein’s personal and professional achievements, high ethical standards, passion and commitment to the community and her vocation, and her support of the Rotary concept of Service Above Self.

Through the nomination of Rotarian Sam Johnson, the club believes she exemplifies all of the qualities of who this award should go to. Benlein was presented with a $1,000 check for a nonprofit organization of her choice, which she then presented to Gretchen Osgood, board member for Aunty’s Angels.
