KAILUA-KONA — The Hawaii Supreme Court has placed Kailua-Kona attorney Lisa Margaret Volquardsen on inactive status for an indefinite period.
The order, filed Friday, stated Volquardsen, 47, was “incapacitated from continuing the practice of law by reason of physical or mental infirmity.”
The Hawaii State Bar Association website lists Volquardsen’s status as inactive — involuntary.
According to a press release from the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, the public is cautioned and advised that Volquardsen has been barred from practice until further order or the Hawaii Supreme Court.
Attempts to reach the attorney were unsuccessful because her phone was disconnected and her business website is no longer accessible.
“Volquardsen may not accept any new retainers, clients, or legal matters while she is on inactive status,” the release states.
According to the July 7 order, it indicates Volquardsen responded to the court’s May 2 order to “show cause” on June 19.
On June 27, the court filed another order, which was a “statement of no objection,” filed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
On July 5, it was concluded that Volquardsen was unable to continue practicing law.
The previous orders remain confidential.
Volquardsen was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar on Jan. 6, 2009. Officials say she will have to petition the Supreme Court to be reinstated.
