WAIKOLOA VILLAGE — Tickets are on sale for the Big Island Ohana Fest, a drug- and alcohol-free, three-day music festival coming to Waikoloa Stables Aug. 25-27. Mele with the Mountains is the theme for the family friendly event.
The celebration features local musicians, small businesses and educational booths. In addition to 28 different acts on the main stage, there will be food and craft vendors, an educational and social services area, a secondary stage with cultural and educational speakers and activities, and an area for children’s games.
Friday’s music lineup includes Chief Ragga, Kapu System, Humble Roots, The Heavies, Selassie Ites and Anthrophony. On Saturday, Soul Medic, Michael Hern, Maddi Simmons, Dirty Roots &Soul Redemption, Mikey Fiyah, Caine, Llosh &Found, Kingside, Tomi Isobe Band, Maka Gallinger, Lifeinpursuit and The Good Tree will be on stage. Sunday features Brad Bordessa, Don May, Kahea, Dagan Bernstein, Pau Hana Pickers, Mokuleo, Rachel Scott, Hannah Kaplon and Kehaulani.
Weekend passes are $35 for adults, $10 for children ages 5-12; and children 4 and younger enter free. Discounts are available for students, teachers, military, senior citizens and first responders. At the door, tickets are $40. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to The Kohala Center and PARENTS, Inc.
