Ella Wong

Ella Wong, 34, of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 9, 2017, at her residence. She was born Sept. 15, 1982, in Hilo.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. on Aug. 26 at Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo for a noon service. Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park and Cemetery. Following the burial, the family invites guests to a luncheon at Leung’s Chop Suey House.

She is survived by mother, Yuk Wah Wong; father, Shun Kwan Wong; brothers, Elson (Vivian) Wong and Edmund (Gizelle) Wong; aunts, Shun Fun Woo and Shun Nuen Leung; foster parents, Glicerio and Felisa Casil; four nephews.

Consuelo Daog

Consuelo Calonsai Daog, 93, of Hilo, died Aug. 2, 2017, at his residence. Born in Paauilo, he was a landscaper for the former King’s Landing development, member of Opihikao Congregational Church and the founder, past president and member of the Visayan Club of Hawaii, and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Friends may at 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Harriet Daog, of Hilo; sons, Lawrence (Jennifer) Daog, of Texas, Matthew (Valerie) Daog, of Oahu, and Edmund (Erin Lee) Daog Sr., Rudolph Daog and Chris Daog, all of Hilo; daughters, Patricia Carter, of Connecticut, Sharon (Jovany) Pacheco, of Kona, and Darlene Consuelo (Daniel) Gangano, of Mountain View; brother, Manuel Daog, of Florida; sister, Loretta Alidon, of Oahu; hanai daughter, Heidi (Ray) Dangaran, of Keaau; caregivers, Nikki Duyao and Tyanna Fontes, both of Hilo; 26 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Teruo Taketa

Teruo “Toots” Taketa, 88, of Hilo, died Aug. 15, 2017, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired buyer for Hilo Planing Mill, member of the East Hawaii Kiwanis Club, Hilo Jaycees, Wreckers Golf Club, Hilo Interpreters Club and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers or koden (monetary gifts).

He is survived by wife, Betty Taketa, of Hilo; daughter, Carolyn (Bruce) Tabor, of Ventura, California; son, Edward (Stephanie) Taketa, of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Chizuko (Sparky) Segawa, of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Madeline Yamada

Madeline Theresa Fuellas Yamada, 82, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 8, 2017, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Feb. 6, 1925, in Halaula, she was a retired bartender and food waitress at the former Kona Inn Hotel, and waitress at the former Sizzler’s Restaurant.

Friends may call at noon on Aug. 28 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a service. Luncheon will follow at the Kona Palisades pavilion on Kaiminani Drive. Casual attire; no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Herbert Yamada, of Kealakekua; son, Philip Jocson Jr., of Hilo; daughters, Yvonne Keanaaina, of Kailua-Kona, Jaye Kalilikane, of Honalo, Phyllis (John) Alapai, of Waimea, and Terri (Juan) Villanueva of San Diego; brothers, Benjamin (Helen) Fuellas, of Oahu, Johnny Fuellas, of Kailua-Kona, Sonny Fuellas, of Captain Cook, Enorio Fuellas, of Honalo; sisters, Rose Milton, of Honalo, and Shirley Uchima, of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
