Israel Aiona

Israel “Iz” Aiona of Hilo, died Aug. 15, 2017, at home. Born Oct. 12, 1951, in Hilo, he was a retired courier for Fed Ex, a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and an elder for the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Genevieve Aiona of Hilo; son, Jacob (Melanie) Aiona of Kilauea, Kauai; daughters, Hauoli (Bill) Aiona of Hilo, Kanoa Aiona of Hilo and Lehua (Brent) Remmers of Hilo; grandchildren, Chantae (Joseph) Cummings, Kobi Candaroma, Tehinnah Aiona, Savanna Colliado, Nanea Aiona, Gianna Remmers, Kimimela Aiona, Malachi Remmers and Cole Remmers; and three great-grandchildren.

Glennon Pine

Glennon Graig Pine, 43, of Paauilo, died Aug. 27, 2017, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 11, 1974, in Honokaa, he was a painter for Delorey Painting and an auto mechanic.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea for a 10 a.m. service. Casual attire.

He is survived by fiancé, Pauahi Kalai of Paauilo; daughters, Kaylen Kalai-Pine, Kristalynn Kalai-Pine, and Kelsie Kalai-Pine, all of Paauilo; son, Glennon Pine of Paauilo; father, Wayne Pine of Kawaihae, mother, Claudia Pine of Honokaa, brothers, Evan Pine of Kohala, and Vernon Pine of Honokaa; sister, Sharilynn Pine of Honokaa; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Benedict Suppes

Benedict “Ben” Joseph Suppes, 87, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 10, 2017, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born May 18, 1930, in Portland, Oregon, he was an architect, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and an alumnus of the University of Oregon.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. on Sept. 23 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona for an 11 a.m. Mass. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Roberta Suppes of Kailua-Kona; son, Joseph (Kari) Suppes of Hillsboro, Oregon; numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Wahinekapu

Margaret Mercado Wahinekapu, 87, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 12, 2017, at her residence. Born Aug. 23, 1930, in Honolulu, she was a retired laundry supervisor at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, Calif., and member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held at noon Sept. 21 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, John (Cindy) Wahinekapu of Oahu, James (Charmaine) Wahinekapu, and Gerald (Sheri) Wahinekapu, all of Kailua-Kona, Fabian (Dena) Chacon of Corona, Calif., Robert (Lisa) Chacon and Pete Chacon, all of Norwalk, Calif.; daughters, Debra Rivera of Kailua-Kona, Judy Picozzi of Long Beach, Calif., Tammy Padilla of Pomona, Calif., Janette (Louie) Cardona of La Habra, Calif., Jerrieanna Hernandez of Norwalk, Calif., and Aldeen (Louis) Ramos of Chino, Calif.; step-daughter, Barbara Ann (Keith) Kessler of Fullerton, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Austin Dwight

Austin “Aus” Miller Dwight, 54, of Hilo, died April 27, 2017, at Pohai Malama. Born Oct. 2, 1962, in Los Angeles, he was an installer for Walk-On Wood Flooring.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Puhi Bay in Hilo for a celebration of life and pot luck. Casual attire.

He is survived by daughter, Rachel Alvarez of Los Angeles; parents, Samuel and Rosemary Dwight of Carson, Calif.; sisters, Jeanette (Paul) Abbott of Utah and Janet Wright of Torrance, Calif.; brother, Samuel Dwight of Torrance, Calif.; companion, Gina Nozoe-Martin of Hilo; hanai son, Paul Martin of Hilo; hanai daughter, Summer Martin of Hilo; nieces, nephews and cousins.
