Anthony Ventura Sr.

Anthony “Tony” Ventura Sr., 74, of Hilo, died Sept. 7, 2017, at home. Born April 7, 1943, he was formerly employed by HPA security, RMA Cleaning in Kailua-Kona, RSM Riverside Apartment Maintenance, rubbish hauling; Ventura’s Cleaning Service, and a private mail carrier.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2-10 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Wailoa State Park, pavilion No. 2.

He is survived by sons, Anthony Ventura Jr. of Hilo and Antone Ventura of Hilo; daughters, Kiki (John) Ventura Lopez of Hilo and Jamie Kahooilihala of Hilo; brother, Kenneth Ventura of Hilo; step-sister, Alohalyn Beck of Ka’u; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Curtis Spencer

Curtis Lanui Spencer, 81, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 15, 2017, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Nov. 4, 1935, he was a former telephone lineman, security officer for Hawaii Prepatory Academy, King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, the former Kona Surf Hotel and Kona International Airport, and a U.S. Army veteran.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. Sept. 30 at Hale Halawai on Alii Drive; memorial service at 11 a.m. Urn burial will be at noon Oct. 2 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire; flowers welcome.

He is survived by wife, Marge Spencer of Kailua-Kona; son, Curtis Spencer II, of Hilo; daughter, Leilani (Ed) Zebart of Gaithersburg, Md.; hanai sons, Steven (Gladys) Iona and Lonn (Nani) Iona, all of Pahoehoe; hanai daughter, Johnette Manoha of Kailua-Kona; sister, Ruby Isaacs of Kohala; hanai sisters, Lavender Meno of Pahoehoe, Nancietta Haalilio of Kealia, and Vicki Mamac of Honaunau; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews.
