Aloha Kidney • Kidney Disease Education Series will be from 1-3:30 p.m. Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26 with Ramona Wong MD, a retired nephrologist. These classes will be taught live from Oahu by webinar for those interested in, at risk for, or living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Often, people make choices that unknowingly nudge them towards chronic disease. Hawaii has a high rate of CKD, mostly preventable. Once the impact of choices made on mind, spirit and body are understood, it’s possible to live mindfully ever after.

Chair Yoga will meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Oct. 6, 13 and 20 with Michiko Sato, CYT. This gentle, yoga-in-a-chair practice is designed to stretch and strengthen the body without standing or lying on a mat. The class may also include some easy standing poses behind the chair.

Overeaters Anonymous is held from noon-1 p.m. every Friday. OA is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors. OA welcomes anyone who wishes to stop eating compulsively.

Scrabble Meetup gathers from 1:30-4 p.m. every Friday with Annabel Spielman. Word lovers of every age and skill level are encouraged to play this classic game with relaxed rules. Dictionary use is permitted. It’s a great way to retain and expand vocabulary, spelling, memory and observation skills in a congenial atmosphere.

Hawaiian Healing Yoga will be offered from 10:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 7 with Stacey Lanterman M.A., e-RYT500. Let the rhythm of the island soothe the soul in this truly unique Hawaii-inspired yoga experience. The practice includes Hawaiian music, oli (chant) and aloha spirit, combined with a traditional gentle yoga class and guided healing meditation. It is designed to dissolve tension in the body, promote relaxation for the mind and spirit, and honor place. Come relax, unwind and learn more about deepening the practice through YTT certification.

Harmony for Health with Richard Adoradio will meet from 2-3:30 p.m. Oct. 7. Singing in harmony produces benefits for not only the mind and body, but also for building a well-bonded community. Led by a local music instructor, all are welcome to join in this casual group singing experience, where popular, feel-good songs will be sung in simple, easy to follow harmonies. No singing experience is necessary.
