KAILUA-KONA — The county’s Public Works Highways Division will be installing a left-turn pocket on Henry Street at that road’s intersection with Palani Road starting next week.

Work is expected to take place between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. starting Tuesday. It’s expected to be completed by Feb. 27, conditions permitting. No work is scheduled on the weekend.

Work will include removing the center median at the approach and paving over that area before the installation of a new left-turn pocket leading west, or makai, onto Palani Road.

Motorists should expect delays and drive with caution because heavy vehicles will be in the area. Travel in both directions will be provided and special off-duty police officers will be posted in the area.
