Adriano Juan

Adriano Mamuad Juan, 73, of Keaau, died Jan. 4, 2018, at his residence. Born March 5, 1944, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a farmer, worked at a flower nursery, and was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Feb. 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; service at 7. Friends may also call 8-10 a.m. Feb. 10 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers are welcomed. Burial at Pahoa Catholic Cemetery.

He is survived by sons, Henry (Nora) Juan and Jeffrey (Dalia) Juanm all of Keaau; daughters, Mariepe (Lando) Tallon, Juliet (Alex) Gilo, Jacqueline (Dexter) Lagran, Luz (Lee) Martin, Angel (Ale) Juan, all from Keaau, and Irene (Emer) Justo of Waikoloa; father, Nicasio Juan of Pahoa; sisters, Gloria Aguinaldo, Josefina Canete and Anacleta Gantala, all of Pahoa; 12 grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Eric Mendiola

Eric A. K. Mendiola, 63, of Kurtistown, died Jan. 16, 2018, at his resident. Born in Honolulu, he was a hotel hospitality worker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; eulogy at 9:30, Mass at 10. Graveside urn committal service follows at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sisters, Judy Lane of Waikoloa, Penny (George) Weber of Lihue, Kauai, and Debora (Keoni) Inciong of Waipahu, Oahu; brothers, Damien Mendiola of Waimea, Kauai, Clyde Mendiola of Waikoloa, David Mendiola of Kurtistown, and Charles Mendiola of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dorotea Acoba

Dorotea Galicinao Acoba, 91, of Kapaau, died Jan. 7, 2018, in Sparks, Nev. Born Feb. 6, 1926, in Ilocos Norte, Bacarra, Philippines, she was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi and Kohala Senior Citizens.

Friends may call 8-10 a.m. Feb. 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by son, Benjamin Acoba Jr. of Kapaau; daughters, Norma Keliikipi of Kapaau and Patricia (Charles) Morin of Rhode Island; a son-in-law; sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Leslie Aguiar

Leslie “Les” “Bamm Bamm” Wayne Aguiar, 60, of Volcano, died Jan. 22, 2018, at his residence. Born Nov. 29, 1957, in Hilo, he formerly worked for Bradley Pacific Aviation, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and Structural Dynamics, a U.S. Army veteran, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, and drummer for various bands.

He is survived by wife, Diana Aguiar of Volcano; stepsons, Brandon Borges of Hilo and Kaleo (Clover Villanueva) Borges of Volcano; brother, Wilfred Aguiar of Pahoa; sisters, Carla (Robert) Spidell and Desiree (Dean) Kalawe, all of Keaau; grandson, Kekoa Borges of Volcano; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

George Kosmides

George Kosmo Kosmides, 54, of Hilo, died Jan. 8, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 19, 1963, in Canton, Ohio, he was a doctor of chiropractic in Hilo and founder of Lean Body Academy.

Nora James

Nora Yasuko James, 87, of Hilo died Dec. 26, 2017, at her residence. Born in Lahaina, Maui, she was a retired secretary, Hawaii County Council stenographer, golfer, horse enthusiast, taiko drummer and member of New Hope Hilo, the Hilo Orchid Club and the Lower Kawailani Kumiai.

Friends may call 4-5 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel; service at 5. Casual attire, no flowers.

She is survived by her stepson, Roger James III of Kohala; stepdaughter, Mearl Cooper of Waikoloa; 12 grandchildren; cousins; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry Davis

Jerry Lynn Davis, 69, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 16, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Feb. 12, 1948, in Wichita, Kan., he was a retired contractor.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by son, Aaron Davis of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Jerady Davis and Sierra Davis, both of Kailua-Kona; brother, Monte Davis of California; sister, Loretta (Al) Seastrand of California; four grandchildren; one daughter-in-law.

Blackburn Snow

Blackburn L. Snow, 84, of Waimea, died Jan. 31, 2018, in Waimea.

Born in Los Angeles, he was a builder and spent his adult life in Hawaii.

Raymond “Bondo” Milanio Pilor, 71, of Hilo, died Nov. 19, 2017, at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a former chef/cook and former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe.

He is survived by brothers, Walter (Grace) Pilor of Hawi, Jeffrey (Grace) Pilor of Hilo, and Vernon Pilor of Waimea; sisters, Florence (Howard) Dawana of Keaau, and Wanda (Rex) Dalere of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

JoEllen Heath Padilla, 74, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 1, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 25, 1943, in Oakland, Calif., she was a business owner, artist and author.

She is survived by sons, Chris (Michelle) Holmes of California, and Kimo Spalding of Kailua-Kona; sister, Jaye (Joe Marks) Heath, of Kailua-Kona; two grandchildren; one nephew.

Lillian Saplad

Lillian Sakae Saplad, 79, of Keaau, died Sept. 13, 2017, at her residence. Born in Lahaina, Maui, she was a retired state Department of Education teacher.
