WAIMEA — Waimea Athletics will sponsor Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 at Waimea District Park Gym. Children ages 5 and up, as well as parents, can participate.

Families can purchase $10 wristbands for unlimited participation in games and activities throughout the day.

Carnival games will include a 30-foot obstacle course, 25-foot bungee run, bubble ball soccer, zorb hamster ball, combo bouncy castle, waffle ball, fishing game, Minnie Mouse bean bag toss, milk bottle throw, milk can toss, quarterback touchdown, Plinko and a giant Connect 4. Small children must be accompanied by a parent.

Food, arts and crafts, and face painting will also be offered.

The event is a fundraiser to benefit DNA Hawaii Basketball Academy — formerly known as FRO Hawaii Basketball School — that supports youth teams and their trips to mainland competitions.

Patrons can also watch free Super Saturday Basketball games for 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 age group boys, girls and co-ed teams in the gym at the same time, sponsored by DNA Hawaii Basketball Academy. Travel team players and families will officiate the basketball games, host the concession stands and manage all carnival games and activities.

Event proceeds will be used to purchase DNA teams’ air travel, hotel rooms, transportation and entry fees for two June exposure tournaments for boys and girls in seventh, eighth and high school grades in the Orange County/Rancho Cucamonga/Anaheim area. Concessions on site also benefit travel teams.
