Zen Meditation Class at Daifukuji Daifukuji Soto Mission will offer a free Zen Meditation class on Saturday, June 16 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The topics will include correct posture on a cushion, bench, or chair and etiquette in a meditation hall. There will be special emphasis on what to do with your mind during meditation. The predominate form of meditation in Soto Zen is shikantaza—-just sitting. The non-profit Ku’ikahi Mediation Center hosts a free talk on June 21 as part of their “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series. Kiwanis Keiki Day at Ulu Wini

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona is sponsoring a keiki “fun day” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 23, 2018, for local Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island families as well as families who live at Na Kahua Hale O Ulu Wini transitional housing complex. We anticipate approximately 200 – 250 family members will attend the event to be held at the Ulu Wini complex. Morning activities include carnival games, water balloon toss, giant bubbles, keiki yoga, archery, hula, fitness, face painting, basketball shoot-off and others. Lunch will be served from 12 to 1 p.m. with another series of games right after lunch. Prizes will be given including movie tickets, ukuleles, ocean excursions, laundry baskets filled with items, gift cards, etc. Several businesses have donated to this event.
