Edwin Kaneko
Mr. Edwin Tetsuo Kaneko, 87, of Holualoa, died April 26, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Honalo on May 29, 1930, he was the senior FAA representative for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a civil engineer, coffee farmer, master lauhala weaver and beloved Kumu.
An 11 a.m. memorial service and luncheon will be held on July 1 at the Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Kaneko of Holualoa; son, Kris Kaneko of Holualoa; daughters, Julie Kaneko Hall of Ventura, Calif., Patricia (Pete) Strahler of Castle Rock, Colo.; brothers, Yoshiyuki (Emiko) Kaneko of Kealakekua, Herbert (Vivian) Kaneko of Pearl City, Oahu; sisters, Kimiko Sato of San Carlos, Calif., Asako Kajioka of Pearl City, Oahu; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Henry Konakakino Hulama Jr.
Henry Konakakino Hulama Jr., 70, of Waikoloa, died May 25, 2018, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, a retired Honolulu Police Department solo bike officer, a retired State of Hawaii operations supervisor at Kona International Airport and a member of the Hawaiian Thunda M/C.
Celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. June 30 at Salvation Army, Hilo Corps. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. and a luncheon to follow. Casual attire. Private scattering of ashes at a later date.
He is survived by spouse, Barbara Hulama of Waikoloa; son, David Hulama of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Karen Hulama of Honolulu; mother, Annie Hulama of Hilo; brothers, Michael Hulama Sr. of Honolulu, Gerard Hulama Sr. (Nova) of Kauai, Jesse Hulama Sr. of Pepeekeo and Stanford Hulama Sr. (Linda) of Hilo; sisters, Rowena Silva (Ronald) of Hilo, Joanne Hulama of Hilo and Faye Williams of Hilo; five grandchildren; aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lori Tamashiro
Mrs. Lori Leiko Tamashiro, 63, of Hilo, died June 18, 2018, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility in Hilo. Born Oct. 6, 1954, in Hilo, she retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Education as an elementary school teacher at Keaau Elementary School.
Friends may call from 3:30-5 p.m. July 2 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire is requested.
She is survived by husband, Derrick Tamashiro of Hilo; daughters, Ashley (Ryan) Yoshida of Portland, Ore., and Chelsea (Jacob Villeza) Tamashiro of Hilo; sister, Joann (Kimo) Kelekolio of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Violet Nariyoshi
Violet Hanako Nariyoshi, 85, of Hilo, died April 25, 2018, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired from Hilo Medical Center and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hilo Hospital Retirees Club, Upper Waiakea Houselots Kumiai and Kamana Senior Center Line Dancing Group.
Private services were held.
She is survived by son, Scott (Carol) Nariyoshi of Modesto, Calif.; brother, Kenneth (Hiromi) Ota of Hilo; one granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

Toshio Takeya
Toshio “Ded” Takeya, 90, of Paauilo, died on May 16, 2018, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Wailea, and was a retired factory worker with the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and a member of the Paauilo Hongwanji Mission.
Friends may call 10-11 a.m. June 30 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 11 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys A.
