University of Hawaii at Manoa — College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources Cooperative Extension Service and Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA) will present “Proper Pesticide Use and Safety: A Federal Worker Protection Standard Workshop” from 6–8 p.m. Aug. 16 at Waimea Civic Center Conference Room.

Cal Westergard of HDOA will explain federal Worker Protection Standards (WPS), and a video presentation about pesticide safety training for agricultural workers and pesticide handlers will be shown. The two-hour WPS class is open to all employers, owners, managers and agricultural employees on farms, forests, nurseries and greenhouses. There is no cost to attend but registration is required in advance.
