Gladys Fujihara

Gladys Fumiko Fujihara, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 24, 2018, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Kealia on Dec. 12, 1944, she was a factory worker for Sugai’s Poi Factory and a waitress at the former Kona Inn Hotel.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 15, 2018, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau; memorial service at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her companion, Marium Cornelio of Kailua-Kona; brothers; Howard Fujihara and Phillip (Roselle) Fujihara of Kailua-Kona, Douglas Fujihara of Hilo and Harold Fujihara of South Kona; sisters, Lorraine (James) Motoyamoa of Kealakekua, Lillian (Elson) Mori of Kailua-Kona, Arelene (Michael) Reilly of Kealakekua, and Barbara Jean (Grant Shiraishi) Fujihara of Kailua-Kona; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

David McLaughlin

David John McLaughlin, 59, of Kailua-Kona, died June 12, 2018, at his residence. Born in San Diego on Oct. 7, 1958, he was head mechanic at the Kona Country Club.

A celebration of life will be held from 5-9 p.m. Sept. 15, 2018, at the Big Game Fishing Clubhouse at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by his wife, Linda McLaughlin of Kailua-Kona; son, John McLaughlin of Kailua-Kona; brothers, John McLaughlin, Paul McLaughlin, Jerry McLaughlin and Stephen McLaughlin; sisters, Christine McLaughlin Fortin, Patty Cobbs, Jane McLaughlin, Barbara Ord, all of the mainland; mother-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Tremaine

James Ernest Tremaine, 74, of Hilo died Aug. 7 at his residence. Born in Kansas City, Kan., he was a master cabinet maker and carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by daughter, Tina Tremaine of Tennessee; brother, Stanley (Rita) Tremaine of Kansas City, Kan.; stepdaughters, Barbara Reny of Pahoa, Lena Hickman of Ka’u; stepsons, John (Geraldine) Arruda, Sr. of Honolulu, Anthony (Jennifer) Arruda of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Manuel Arruda, Sr. of Mountain View; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arvid Theorine

Arvid V. Theorine, 75 of Mountain View, died Aug. 25, 2018, at Pohai Malama. He was born on Sept. 24, 1942 in Colorado and was a Navy veteran and computer programmer.

Arvid is survived by spouse, Sharon R. Theorine of Mountain View; brother, Larry (Venessa) Theorine of Florida; sister, Sharyl (Michael) Pierson of Colorado; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thane Murray

Thane James Murray, 30, of Hilo, died Aug. 31, 2018, at home. He was born in Honolulu and was a skilled construction laborer and truck driver.

Friends may call 4-5 p.m. Sept. 12, 2018, at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Marisa Murray of Hilo; son, Gage Murray of Hilo; daughter, Kakoya Murray of Hilo; father, Ace (Sara) Ayala of Mississippi; sister, Breanna Ayala of Mississippi; paternal grandparents, Manny and Joy Ayala of Mississippi; father- and mother-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jane Kurokawa

Jane Teruyo Kurokawa, 91, of Papaikou, died Sept. 3, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hakalau, she was a homemaker, clerk at the former Standard Drug and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Private services. Family requests no monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughters, Susan (Russell) Yanagida of Mililani, Oahu, Rita (Timothy) Goto of Honolulu; son, Carl (Julie) Kurokawa of Montana; brothers, Paul (Daisy) Misaka of Wahiawa, Oahu, Theodore (Rowena) Misaka of Mission Viejo, Calif., Clyde (Sonhui) Misaka of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Agnes Kaipo

Agnes Noelani “Nessie” Kaipo, 72, of Papaikou, died Aug. 19, 2018 at home. She was born in Hilo and was a retired hairdresser with the former Glen “V” Reflections Hair Salon.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence C. “Sai” Kaipo, Jr. of Papaikou; sons, Clarence C. (Donna R.) Kaipo, III of Hilo, Konrad K. (Traci Tsuha) Kaipo, Sr. of Kaumana and Meyers K. (Jessica) Kaipo of Papaikou; brothers, Matthew McBride of Seattle and John K. (Lesli) McBride of Hilo; sister, Huberta L. “Leimomi” Kekaualua of Hilo; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren; numerous nieces &nephews.
